How Mindfulness Enhances Pleasure

Meditation uses a variety of tools to help ground you in your body and relax you. The use of mindfulness is an exceptional practice to bring you into your body and make you more aware of how things feel for you: emotionally, physically, and every other way. The mindfulness technique has you pay attention to your breath as it goes in and out. This technique gets you accustomed to feeling the temperature of the air as it enters and exits your body. It also helps you learn to pay attention to the various sensations of your body—how it feels when your chest rises and falls, the up and down movement of your shoulders, your posture and so much more.

How does this practice translate to your sex life and pleasure? Well, as you become more aware of every part of your body you begin to be aware of it all of the time, not just when you are meditating. Heightened bodily awareness means you feel the tingles of being caressed more deeply, you are aware of which sensations you really enjoy and those you don’t and can more clearly express that to your partner(s).

If you are looking to get into meditation to better get attuned to your body I recommend starting by searching YouTube for Mindfulness Meditation videos or you can use this playlist I created. There are a variety to choose from. I suggest starting with a shorter one, like 5 minutes, because meditation takes some getting used to, especially if you aren’t used to sitting in silence for extended periods of time.

Meditation done daily drastically increases your bodily awareness, which will in turn drastically improve the pleasure you experience, whether sexually and just in general. The benefits of meditation span across every part of your life, not just the sexual part.
